A. Reflect back on some of the books you were read to/or you read as a child. Explain how they either challenged or affirmed gender stereotypes?

B. Why do girls and women who ignore conventional feminine stereotypes exist in a “double bind”? What are examples of the “double bind” that women confront in American society?  

C. What does the concept of hostile sexism mean for women and how can it also be directed toward men as well? 

D. How can a misogynist exhibit prejudice against women but still desire female companionship?  Share an example of when you or someone you know encountered this type of misogynist. 

E. Share your thoughts about benevolent sexism? Do you really think it is problematic or can it be viewed in a positive light?
