Leadership and economics play a vital role when using evidence-based practice (EBP) to improve patient outcomes, particularly when dealing with certain clinical questions like my PICOT question. Principles for leadership serve as the supporting pillars of EBP initiatives, based on the use of technology in the same way that prenatal classes are organized. Visionary leadership is a fundamental element in building a consensus plan about how to integrate technology in prenatal education with an evidence-based method and cultivating a culture of innovation among health care organizations (Kleine et al., 2024). Strategic planning is at the core of the process, which develops objectives, timelines, and resources required for the plan and also draws in all the stakeholders to the project to build the sustainability of the plan and support it from its inception.
Change management strategies are deployed to address problems inhibiting acceptance of technology, including the apprehension of new solutions and uncertainty about its effectiveness. The executives deliver the education and training not only to TPE participants but also to healthcare workers, thus enabling the transition to technology-based prenatal education. Monitoring and evaluation systems are set up to observe progress, localize problem areas, and identify areas for improvement based on data to be able to make data-driven decisions for the enhancement of program effectiveness.
Economic models have to be taken into account when evaluating the economic impact of technology-based prenatal education compared to the conventional approach. Cost-benefit analysis that studies the costs of infrastructure, training, and maintenance, accompanied by the benefits such as better outcomes for patients and efficient healthcare utilization (Nguyen et al., 2022). Return on investment (ROI) assessments are used to ratify investments, doing so in a manner that first and foremost puts emphasis on interventions that have the highest potential to generate positive outcomes.
In line with value-based care models, technology-driven prenatal education programs establish, as cornerstones of care, the proven practices to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care. Value-based reimbursements will reward the use of technology-supported solutions and account for the success of this intervention as well as the results. Sustainable planning ensures the longevity of these programs to meet the needs of larger audiences and maintain their operability using techniques such as scalability, interoperability, and ongoing support for the ultimate goal of increasing impact and minimizing costs. Through integrating leadership principles with health economic models of EBP in prenatal care, organizations will be able to properly optimize EBP, which in turn will result in a higher level of patient knowledge and better pregnancy outcomes during follow-up visits.
