WHY IS THIS ASSIGNMENT IMPORTANT?

The purpose of a summary is to give the reader a clear, objective picture of the original text. Most importantly, the summary restates only the main points of the article while support claims with giving examples or details, such as dates, numbers or statistics.

WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO:

Students should select ONE reputable article from an academic peer reviewed healthcare journal for the article summary on the following topics:

1. Healthcare Delivery Settings

2. Long Term Care Settings

Students will write a summary of the article and it must demonstrate academic quality. The article should be no more than three years old, and should be relevant to any of the classroom topics we have discussed thus far.

The summary should be written in APA format. Summaries should be 2-3 full pages in length NOT including the cover page and a reference page. Content should include an introduction paragraph, summary of article, headings in paper, a discussion of relation to class/profession, and conclusion paragraph and reference page. You do not need an abstract for this assignment.

Write your paper following these APA Guidelines:

• 12-pt. Times New Roman font

• Double spaced

• 1 inch margins on top, bottom, right, and left

• Indent all first lines of each paragraphs 5-7 spaces or inch

• Page numbers in upper right hand corner of page

• Title page (follow my example)

• Correct Reference of the article on the reference page using APA

• Submit via Moodle in MS Word

Do’s and Don’ts:

1. Do not write in personal pronouns and first person “I”, “me”,etc

2. Do not write in contractions “don’t, can’t” – spell out.

3. Do not write using direct quotes.

3. Do have clear topic sentences.
