Lesson Plan Assignment: Topic has to be on Health , Safety, or Nutrition
Prepare your lesson. Remember the lesson has to be hands on, engaging and developmentally appropriate. Work sheets are not developmentally appropriate.
1. Lesson plan has to be on health, safety or nutrition. You may Google preschool lesson plans, go on Pinterest or use one of the lessons found in your text book.
2. Make sure the development section is listed as steps – number them .
See the lesson plan template attached. Refer to the last column on the template. This column will help explain what is needed in each section that you will be filling out.
3. Google or see link below.. the Illinois Early Learning Standards to come up with your benchmarks. – see link below
4. Write your objectives. What will the child will learn? State it like this…”The child will be able to……..” List 2 objectives and then find 2 benchmarks that match your objectives. I think it is easier to find benchmarks first. Then reword your benchmark to be used as you objective.
Example: If the benchmark is…
Goal 24 Benchmark 2.a
“Promote and enhance health and well-being through the use of effective communication and decision-making skills.”
Then the objective should be… The child will be able to communicate and make decisions. – Now being that this is your objective, your lesson has to be about communication and making decisions.
