Essay Question Directions
Choose ONE of the two essay questions to answer.
The question should be answered in an essay format with an introduction, 2-3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Your essay question response should be using standard formatting.
The essay question is worth 60% of the Final.
Your essay question and your arguments within it should be supported by lecture material and at least 3 different class sources, including books, essays, primary sources, and films. The more sources you can draw from to support your argument the better your essay will be.
Do not plagiarize any of the course material, including the class lectures and course readings. You are not required to create a Works Cited page, but just be sure to cite the source.
All references to class sources must be paraphrased in your own words and cited using the author’s last name and the page number where the material is located. If you are citing the lecture material, use the instructor’s last name in parentheses; e.g. (Abrecht). You do not have to use slide numbers.
Do not include any direct quotes from the sources. Do not use outside sources when answering your questions, only use class sources.
Term Question Directions
Choose TWO of the four term questions to answer.
The questions should be answered in an essay format and should:
Define the term. What is it? When was it? Where was it? Who was it?
Explain its significance. Why is this term important to European women’s history? Why does it matter? Your definition and significance should reflect the class’ focus on women’s history and issues of power.
Your term question responses should be 6-8 sentences long (approx. 1/2 a page in length) double-spaced, using standard formatting.
The term questions are each worth 20% of the Final.
Your term question responses should be supported by lecture material and at least 1 class source, including books, essays, primary sources, and films. The more sources you can draw from to support your argument the better your response will be.
Do not plagiarize any of the course material, including the class lectures and course readings. You are not required to create a Works Cited page, but just be sure to cite the source.
