File: Election16.csv. Read the description of the fields in this file in 9.36 on p.449. a. Create the simple logistic models in problem 9.36; that is, create a model to predict the binary variable TrumpWin using just Income, then again using just HS, etc. as described in 9.36. Answer the questions in 9.36. b. Read and do the instructions in 9.38, and answer the questions in parts a, b and c. Problem 2 Based on Problem 9.41 (p.450) Files: Leukemia.csv Read the description of the fields in this file in 9.41 on p.450. a. Answer parts a and c of problem 9.41 (ignore doing part b when asked). Note: In R, you calculate the p-value as discussed on p.440 with a chi-square distribution with 1 degree of freedom, and using G = Null deviance – Residual deviance. Example 9.17 on p.441 shows a bit of this, as does my video. That is, p-value = pchisq(Null deviance – Residual deviance,1,lower.tail=FALSE) b. Also fit a logistic model for Resp using Smear, and interpret the results and discuss whether the relationship is statistically significant as you did for the other variables. c. For each of your three models, also create a 95% confidence interval for the odds ratio for the slope, 𝛽𝛽̂1, using the idea on page 438 and taking exponentials, � 𝟏𝟏 +c(-1,0,1)*1.96*𝑺𝑺𝑺𝑺𝜷𝜷� ), exp(𝜷𝜷 𝟏𝟏 and explain how this confidence interval does or does not agree with your previous discussion of statistical significance.
