a. A friend is convinced that no one smokes cigarettes anymore, they did a poll on their social media and found that 0% of their respondents smoked cigarettes. What kind of sample did your friend obtain and how can these results be misleading?
b. Describe the ideal way of sampling from a population using at least one sampling technique from this week’s material. Explain this sampling technique thoroughly and explain how a researcher would use it to collect a sample.
c. According to the CDC, an estimated 11.5% of Americans smoke cigarettes at least some days throughout the year. According to their methodology, the CDC obtained a sample of 60,000 Americans using a random digit dialing technique where cell phones and landlines were randomly generated from a list of all possible phone numbers. Describe and explain why this form of sampling may yield more accurate results than your friend’s results.
