Please respond to one question from Ch 12 and to Q4:
Q1. Parvanta et al. Chapter 12 – Evaluating a Health Communication Campaign.
Using recommendations from the chapter, describe specific methods that were used to determine message exposure in the “Get Yourself Tested” or the “Save the Crabs” campaign. What are other exposure measures mentioned in the chapter that were not used? How do they compare to the ones that were used in one of these campaigns, i.e., what are strengths and weaknesses of this method for assessing exposure compared to what was used?
Q2. Parvanta et al. Chapter 12 – Evaluating a Health Communication Campaign.
Using recommendations from the chapter, describe specific methods that were used to determine (a) short and (b) long term outcomes in the “Get Yourself Tested” campaign and one additional method from that chapter that could have been used. What are strengths and weaknesses of this method for assessing exposure?
Q3. Parvanta et al. Chapter 12 – Evaluating a Health Communication Campaign.
According to this chapter, evaluation data can be quantitative, qualitative, or both. And the sampling plan for gathering that data can be random, a convenience or snowball sample, or another approach. How would you evaluate an outcome of the “Get Yourself Tested”, using one of those approaches? How could you identify the “sample” used to provide this data, and how would you make it unbiased? List the data collection methods used, and one measure/question/variable you would use for evaluation. What are the pro’s and con’s of these three methods?

Q4. Community Toolbox: Section 19: Using Social Media for Digital Advocacy.
Select an advocacy cause that would advance social action related to the “Get Yourself Tested” topic (e.g., if your PSA is on sunscreen, your advocacy cause might be making tanning salons illegal for anyone under age 21). Then describe how you would set up a social media account (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) for this cause and integrate it with at least one other type of social media. Tell us how you would name it, recruit followers, and link to material that would interest your followers and advance your cause. Use guidelines suggested either by this reading or by the links in this reading.
Please respond to two questions for this reading:
Q1. Parvanta, et al., Chapter 15: Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication.
This chapter suggests that we design messages used during emergency communications to tailor it to the audience, including message purpose and mode of delivery. Design a message map that you would use for an earthquake, massive measles outbreak, wildfire threatening a town, or other major emergency. Specify the emergency in your response.
Q2. Parvanta, et al., Chapter 15. Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication.
Based on the chapter, what are some reasons that the psychology of risk perception is important to consider in planning public health efforts? Offer some sources of public concern described in the chapter, and discuss how you would address these concerns in planning emergency communications to a crisis of your choosing.
Q3. Parvanta, et al., Chapter 15: Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication.
As the public health communication expert for a county public health program, what are suggestions from the Ebola case example and this chapter that you could apply in planning for a serious infectious disease outbreak, such as Zika Virus, in your county? Specify the type of outbreak you are using in your example. How would it differ from Ebola example?
Q4. Parvanta, et al., Chapter 15: : Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication.
Use five or six of Sandman’s seven recommendations, in his “Communication Advice for Emergencies,” to design a brief statement that you could use in talking with the public about an emergency of your choosing. Tell us how you are applying them, after you share your brief statement. Which of the tips you used were more helpful? OR How could you apply one more to improve the situation?
