Graduate School in School Psychology Student- Response to Articles
Instructions:
This is for a graduate school student in school psychology for psychology of cognition and affect class. You are to write a response to the following articles. (see below and look up the full articles on google- ONLY USE THOSE ARTICLES LISTED BELOW)
You have two tasks:
1. Write response to the articles and frame it as you are a school psychologist and write about the information in discussing and ask a discussion question about how educators can support this depending on topic relate it to teachers, students, and educators. Write 4 paragraphs. 2 paragraphs per article.
2. write a short 1 paragraph reply to a students discussion post (see discussion post below) and comment on it with your thoughts and answer the question they have. Write what you appreciated or were intrigued about what they wrote.

“Overall, I agree Gobert and Sala, that research efforts on this area should stop and be redirected elsewhere. However, when Green and Newcombe, I realized that culture is missing from the conversation. As we learned earlier in the course, the role of culture should not be overlooked. Culture is impacting both variables in this conversation, education and intelligence testing. Education looks different depending on the cultural context. Cognitive testing is heavily influenced by culture and can be inaccurate when testing people outside of the normative sample (cultural and linguistic differences). The discussion about education and cognitive abilities is focused on the United States without explicitly stating so. The makers of cognitive tests are also creating tests with the expectation that examinees will be attending school (usually an American one). Although the research is mixed, if there is a relationship between education and cognitive abilities, what role might culture play? How might education in other cultures impact performance on cognitive tests?”
