Health status can impact several distinct aspects of sexuality including physical health, mental health, and reproduction. The purpose of this assignment will be to take some time to examine and reflect on a sexual health issue in more detail. Further, you will consider the impact of your chosen sexual health condition and how someone might resolve the issue or seek treatment or support to improve their health outcomes. You will use the sexual health issues explored in the course as a starting point for the assignment. You will pick a sexual health condition from the ones we studied in class including sexually transmitted infections, conditions of infertility, sexual health disorders, and paraphilic disorder (See Modules 10 & 11). Once you have picked the condition you would like to study you will describe the condition and its causes and symptoms, explore the impact of the condition on the individual, propose treatment or supports a person with the condition could access. For this assignment we are going to use the model for critical reflection adapted from Rolfe, Freshwater and Jasper (2001). Here is a visual representation of the model: LIBS1260-W24 Adapted from: Rolfe, G., Freshwater, D., & Jasper, M. (2001) Critical reflection in nursing and the helping professions: a user’s guide, Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan. Instructions 1. Provide a thorough overview of the topic you are looking at. 3. Next you will explore the ‘so what’ of the issue. a. How does this health issue impact the individual? b. Does it impact other areas of their lives (i.e. relationships, physical health, etc.)? c. What are the long and short-term implications of the health issue? d. Consider how the health issue might impact the individual’s life. 4. Finally, reflect on the ‘now what’ of the issue. a. Is there treatment or a cure for this health issue? b. Where can someone go for help or support? c. Are there ways for the individual to address the issue without formal medical support? d. Students are also encouraged to reference any relevant course material to support their reflection in addition to their external resource. 6. Each of the three (3) sections should be 250-300 words for an assignment total of 750900 words. You may also choose to submit a video format of this assignment which should be 10 minutes in length, your reference list needs to be submitted in a document to accompany your video. 7.
