(15% of the course grade)

For the final assignment in ENG 101, you’ll be expanding the non-research-based argument essay you’ve already written.  You’ll do this by adding some research to support your point of view.  The result will be a 3-4 page final research essay on your topic.

This assignment requires you to integrate material from 3 reputable sources into your existing argument.  These sources can come from either the web OR from the library databases (which you’ll be introduced to in class).  You should use specific quotes and paraphrases from the sources you found to support some of the claims you made in your essay.

The source material you include in the paper must be smoothly integrated into your essay.  You may also need to expand, revise, and edit your earlier paper so that it’s well organized and contains a strong argument.

Your research essay should have a clear central thesis, and it should be supported with plenty of reasons and evidence in support of that thesis. Your final version should be formatted using MLA style.  It should have quotes and paraphrases accompanied by MLA in-text citations, along with a Works Cited page.
