As we have discussed in class, the utopian/dystopian genre often plays  out hopes and fears writers have about the world we live in and the  future that awaits us.  Films and literature in this genre often serve  as a way to warn audiences about social, political, ethical, or  scientific dilemmas shape society.  This assignment is designed to give  you an opportunity to examine how those warnings are constructed and the  validity of those questions and concerns.

Select at three of the stories we have read or films we have watched so far that focuses on the same

societal issue (i.e. racism, sexism, conformity, the dehumanization 

caused by technological advancements, totalitarianism, etc.).  Write an 

analysis comparing how narrative depicts this social issue and the 

implications of each representation.
