Revise your interview instrument based on the feedback you receive from your classmates and Instructor.
Prepare a document that includes the following components:
A brief description of how you will recruit two participants
A protocol that includes the invitation, informed consent (using the verbatim document from the Walden IRB), interview guide (revised based on feedback from your Instructor and classmates), closing statement, and peer debrief paragraph
Submit your completed document to your Instructor.
FEEDBACK: Thanks for your workshop post this week. I think you have a good ‘starter list’ of interview questions but be sure to clearly understand the difference between a research question and an interview question. Understanding the difference between a good interview question and a bad interview question is critical. Typically, the Dissertation committee will approve your list of interview questions. I realize in this class you will submit your questions for peer-review and instructor review, but the ultimate authority will be your Chair/Mentor/Committee. The exercises in this class are only a testing ground. In qualitative research, the primary questions are critical and should align with the research purpose. While RQs and interview questions are not the same, they should complement one another. Finally, they should be written (and asked) in such a way that is clear, concise, and precise. W.U. provides excellent resources (as you’ve seen) to prepare students for interview design and execution. From now until you obtain committee approval to conduct the study, you may wish to revisit your questions to ensure they consistently align with what it is you plan to investigate through the Diss process.
