This ECA carries 50% of the course marks and is a compulsory component. It is to be done individually and not collaboratively with other students. You must submit it on time. Submission You are to submit the end-of-course assignment (ECA) in exactly the same manner as your tutor-marked assignments (TMA), i.e., using Canvas. Submission in any other manner such as hardcopy or any other means will not be accepted. Ensure that you submit your ECA by the deadline. After the 12-hour grace period, 10% of the total ECA mark will be deducted for every 24-hour block or part thereof by which your submission is late. Submissions with more than 50 marks deducted will be awarded 0 marks. You are allowed multiple submissions to Turnitin before the deadline, after which only one submission is allowed, and only if you have not already previously submitted. If you fail to submit your ECA, you will be deemed to have withdrawn from the course. You are reminded that electronic transmission is not always immediate. It is possible that network traffic may be particularly heavy on the cut-off date, and connections to the system cannot be guaranteed. Hence, you are advised to submit your work no later than the day before the cut-off date in order to make sure that the submission is accepted and in good time. For video assignments, please ensure that you upload your videos in advance as it may take time for your video to be processed and uploaded successfully. Appeals for late submission due to the video processing time exceeding the grace period will not be considered. Once you have submitted your ECA, the status is displayed on the computer screen. You will receive a digital acknowledgement message. Please note that it is the digital time-stamp—and not the acknowledgement message—that indicates that you have submitted your ECA. To ensure a timely submission and to have your ECAs marked, you should therefore not jeopardise your course result by submitting your ECA at the last minute. Do ensure that you have the correct files for submission. Any submission, extra files, missing appendices or corrections received separately after the submission of the ECA will not be considered in the grading of your ECA assignment. Plagiarism and Collusion The University takes a very serious view of plagiarism (passing off someone else’s ideas as your own; recycling of contents from your own earlier marked TMA from the same course or another course; or passing off AI-generated content as your own) and collusion (submitting an assignment which is the same or very similar to another student’s). Both are forms of cheating, and neither is acceptable in any form in a student’s work, including this ECA assignment. Avoid plagiarism by giving yourself sufficient time to research and understand the material so that you can write up your assignment in your own words and ensure that you provide appropriate references when necessary. If AI is used, ensure that the AI tool is properly cited, and ensure that you write your response entirely using your own words. Even when paraphrased slightly, AI-generated text can still be flagged as plagiarism. You can avoid collusion by ensuring that your submission is based on your own individual effort. Penalties for plagiarism and collusion are severe. Serious cases will normally result in the student being referred to SUSS’s Student Disciplinary Group. For other cases, significant marking penalties or expulsion from the course may be imposed. For more information about PSY375 Copyright © 2024 Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) ECA – January Semester 2024 Page 2 of 6 the University’s policies on plagiarism and collusion, refer to the Student Handbook (Section 5.2, paragraph 1.3). ECA Submission Guidelines Please follow the submission instructions stated below: Submit 1 file in Word format that contains all of the following to the submission link entitled “ECA”: 1) Assignment Cover Page 2) Interview Analysis Report 3) Intervention Plan 4) Home Page Design of Multidisciplinary Mobile Application Program All files must be uploaded by 11 April 2024 (Thursday) 12:00 Noon. Resubmission is allowed before this cut-off time. Answer ALL questions. Question 1 Interview Analysis Report Interview one individual with a current or previous physical health condition and provide an analysis report. You can approach your GBA team. The health condition can be a physical illness (e.g., hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma) or a health condition (e.g., overweight, slipped-disc, sinus, allergies, sleep difficulties). If the interviewee has various health conditions (i.e., including mental health conditions), focus on ONE physical health condition. Your summary report needs to answer the following: 1. Brief background of the interviewee, such as age, gender, vocation. Provide a pseudonym for your interviewee and remove any personally identifiable information to ensure anonymity. 2. Analyse factors (include interpersonal and cultural factors) that influence your interviewee’s physical health condition and well-being from a transdisciplinary/multidisciplinary perspective (diet, physical activity, stress, wellbeing, resources). 3. Assess your interviewee’s health protective behaviours (e.g., exercise, diet, sleep, health screening, medication adherence, relaxation etc.) in maintaining his/her health. 4. Critique and evaluate the effectiveness of your interviewee’s coping with his/her health condition and factors (include interpersonal and cultural factors) that influence it. 5. Support your answer with relevant research literature (in-text citations). PSY375 Copyright © 2024 Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) ECA – January Semester 2024 Page 3 of 6 6. A minimum of 5 references for the whole assignment (Question 1 to 3) is required and APA 7 format is required. Note: A transcript of the interview is not required for submission. You should write no more than 800 words. (40 marks) Question 2 Intervention Plan Apply your knowledge of health and well-being to develop a concise multidisciplinary intervention plan to help your interviewee. Use one relevant theoretical framework (e.g., biopsychosocial model, Salutogenesis) to address the factors (including interpersonal and cultural factors) you identified in Question 1. The plan is to communicate to the medical team how your multidisciplinary team intends to help the interviewee monitor and manage lifestyle choices for optimal functioning and well-being. If your interviewee is managing his/her condition well, come up with plans to help them maintain their current health. Your plan should include: • Theoretical framework that guides your interventions • Interventions that address factors identified in Question 1 that contribute to your interviewee’s health and well-being. Your interventions should be tailored to the individual interviewed and the local context (e.g., helping interviewee to cut down on bubble tea, prata, wanton noodles, etc.). • Please note that the plan is meant for communication with the medical team and not the interviewee. • Support with relevant research literature (in-text citations). Use the following table to present your answer. Point form is acceptable, but make sure it is specific and not vague. You should write no more than 300 words (excluding the titles provided in the table). Framework Interventions Reasons for selecting framework: Nutrition Physical Activity Stress Wellness Resources PSY375 Copyright © 2024 Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) ECA – January Semester 2024 Page 4 of 6 How framework informs interventions: (25 marks) Question 3 Home Page Design of Multidisciplinary Mobile Application Program Apply your knowledge of health and well-being and develop a Multidisciplinary Mobile Application Program meant for individuals with the same physical health condition as your interviewee to help them cope with their health condition, and to monitor and manage lifestyle choices for optimal functioning and well-being. You only need to come up with the home page of the Multidisciplinary Mobile Application Program. The home page should contain: • Information from the multidisciplinary perspective to help the target population cope with and manage their health condition. • Relevant points from Question 2 that are applicable to the target population can be repeated but need to be phrased in a way that is communicated to the lay person and generalised to the target population (e.g., tips to address factors in general across the target population). • You need to include elements to suggest mobile app functions that help individuals monitor and track their health (e.g., icons to indicate functions to monitor weight, heart rate, etc. Please include footnotes to explain what your icons are). • You need to include elements to indicate that this is the home page of a mobile application (e.g., icons to indicate as links. Please include footnotes to explain what your icons are). • Creative elements in the home page design and layout, to attract the reader and support effective communication (e.g., headings and content can be of any font, font size and color). • Support with relevant research literature (in-text citations). Please note that if images/photos are used, ensure that these will not be perceived as offensive by members of the public and always maintain anonymity and confidentiality (i.e., no facial recognition). The home page can be created via Microsoft PowerPoint/Canva or any other software. Upon completion of the home page design, you will need to save it in JPEG/PNG PSY375 Copyright © 2024 Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) ECA – January Semester 2024 Page 5 of 6 format and copy it into the Word document. References unique to the home page should be indicated within it as well (in-text citations). Your image must fit into a single A4 -page within the Word document (excluding reference list).
