Then came the rise in internet, technologies, and companies like Microsoft and Apple who worked hard to develop consumer-grade electronics. Why did IBM survive? They filed for bankruptcy in 1999, yet they continue to lead innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Utilizing a name from the past, their AI engine is based on the name Watson from their previous CEO. Many thought that name could lead to a disaster, but they spun this being a super-intelligent platform and have continued to thrive in their refocused markets. From data center technology to AI, they are a large player in today’s ingenuity.
