Choose one author, television show, movie, or artist that deals with sexual identity, gender identity, or queer identity (or the intersections between these). It could be a work of fiction or non-fiction, but it should have a significant impact on how we understand and represent queer/same-sex identities.

Research your selected artifact and gather information about its context, themes, characters, and message. You can use various sources such as academic articles, books, interviews, documentaries, or online platforms.

1. Analyze how the selected medium expands, enhances, or defines queer/same-sex identities. Consider questions such as: What aspects of queer/same-sex identity are represented in the artifact? How do the characters or creators challenge or reinforce stereotypes or norms around sexual and gender identities? How does the artifact reflect or respond to the historical and cultural contexts of queer/same-sex identity?
2. Write a about your selected artifact. Your paper should have a clear thesis statement that summarizes your analysis and argument. It should also include evidence from the artifact and external sources to support your claims. Use proper citation format (e.g., APA, MLA) and proofread your work for grammar and spelling errors.
3. Prepare a BRIEF (5-7 minute) presentation to the class on the last day about your chosen artifact. Your presentation should provide an overview of your paper’s main findings and arguments. You may use visual aids or media (e.g., clips, images, music) to enhance your presentation. Practice your presentation beforehand to ensure that you stay within the allotted time and engage your audience.
4. Submit your paper and any visual aids or media to your instructor before your presentation day. Be prepared to answer questions from your classmates or your instructor after your presentation.
