For this paper, we have to pick a problem that is prevelant in Indigenous communities and one way we can solve this issue. I picked the high rates of food insecurity in northern Manitoba and my focus is on the children in these communities and how it impacts their health and education. It is important that we talk about how colonization has led to these high rates of food insecurity and why Indigenous communities are here right now. The solution I picked was school gardens. Involving kids in the production of fruits, vegetables, and herbs in order to promote sustainable food production and a sense of connection to the land. I also want to integrate nutrition education into the school ciriculum. It is also very important that we incorporate indigenous communities and elders into this project to help incorporate culturally relevant practices into the program. It’s important to recognize the strengths that are innate to a community. I guess when we are discussing community collaboration, we can talk about how important it is to utilize the resources, community networks, and resilience that are unique to each individual community. We want to address that the communities have survived a lot without outside help and so when integrating the project, we need to look at specific aspects that would build this project according to the needs of the community. The project needs to provide inclusive innovation, something that would not only benefit the community but also the environment.Now it is important that we talk about why school gardens haven’t worked in the past and what’s different in what we are doing and how it would make a difference in the big picture. In this paper, we have to talk about this project and how can we evaluate if this is working or not. It is also hypothetical, so we are not actually implementing this project but just talking about how everything would work. However, it has to be budget friendly so we have to look into grants and sponsorships. Furthermore, it has to focused in northern Manitoba. For the budgeting part, we have to look into how much everything is going to cost and funds in Manitoba that would cover each cost. I will upload an example assignment so please look into how they did the funding and budgeting part of the paper. I had 3 three assignments in regards to this project, a proposal, draft, and presentation so I will upload those. I will also upload the requirements of the final project and the outline.
