Think about “how would I want a health professional to teach me about this disease if my family member was diagnosed with it”.
Part 1: This is the scientific and professional part
Write a 2 page, single spaced article about the disease you selected. What causes it, what are the symptoms, who gets it, how is it diagnosed, the medications, thecurrent treatments, the prognosis, how can it be prevented, and the dietary and physical therapies for the disease AND current research areas. For part 1 include a minimumof 4scientificpeer-reviewed references.Write this section (Part 1) as if you were writing to fellow health professionals who can understand the detailed science). Put your APA formatted references at the end of each part of the assignment in addition site your references like this (Sanchez, 2024) in the text. You should have many of these in your text.
Part 2:
Select your patient, you determine the age and sex of the patient and re-word your part 1above as if you were explaining it to your patient and patient’s caregivers. Be aware that if you choose a child or teenager their needs are age specific. You cannot treat them like adults, they like different foods and exercise habits. Use a language you feel they will understand and use examples to help clarify your points. 2 pages, single spaced. You will use the references from part 1 most likely. List them at the end of the section. You do not tocite references in you text. It is generally assumed in the medical world that information is broken down to the level of middle schooleducation when talking to patients. This is what your are learning to do in this assignment.
Part 3:
For part 3, write the dietary recommendations and explain the changes that will occur as the disease progresses. Also make physical therapy or other therapy recommendations related to the disease in a language the patient understands. 1-5 pages. Be creative. Include sample menus, charts, exercise routines. This is about educating the family with resources you can direct them to. Have them in the paper so I can see them, just don’t put websites. Part 3 is giving some insight into the day to day of the disease and they need to know how it will affect their loved one’s life both now and inthe future. Include sample menus and feeding schedules throughout the patient’s disease progression as things get worse with all of these diseases. Use graphics to explain your concepts if necessary. Include helpful websites for support groups.
Part 3 should have lots of easy to read graphics for learning. If you go over 5 pages that is okay, as long as what you haveis useful.
This part also needs references if you pull things off the internetyou need to cite them.
APA format.
The total length of the assignment varies but a minimum is 10 t0 12 pages (or more for part 3). I look at content more than page length.
