As I transitioned from being a student to an intern, one of the biggest differences I noticed was the level of accountability and responsibility that comes with being in a professional work environment. As a student, I was able to prioritize my tasks and manage my time fairly independently, but as an intern, I have found that there is a higher level of expectation in terms of meeting deadlines and delivering quality work.
In terms of new knowledge and skills I have learned since the beginning of my internship, one of the most significant things I have learned is effective communication in a professional setting. This includes not only how to communicate with my colleagues and supervisors, but also how to tailor my communication style to different audiences and situations. Additionally, I have learned a lot about time management and prioritization, as the fast-paced nature of the work environment has required me to juggle multiple tasks at once and stay organized.
Overall, the transition from student to intern has been a valuable learning experience for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to apply what I have learned in a real-world setting. I look forward to continuing to grow and develop my skills throughout the rest of my internship.

What differences have you noticed as you have transitioned from your role as student to intern?
Transitioning from being a student to becoming an intern involves a number of differences. As a student, the main focus lies on learning and completing assignments. However, as an intern, one is given actual real-world responsibilities within a professional setting while being supervised by a mentor. These tasks have a direct impact on the organization’s goals and can have real consequences. It is expected to apply the knowledge and skills learned in practical settings. For instance, I gained knowledge on how to use an improvement methodology in an actual project and coached the project leader on conducting the project based on the principles of one of the improvement methodologies.
What new knowledge or skill did you learn since the beginning of the internship?
Internships are a great way for me to acquire new knowledge and skills. For instance, during my internship, I had the opportunity to learn technical skills that are applicable to my field of work. I worked on a VESIO application that helps map any project process. Additionally, I also developed soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and collaboration. This was especially useful as I was working in the quality department and needed to interact with higher management at a cooperative level. Through my internship, I gained a deeper understanding of the industry in which I work, including the latest trends and best practices.
