using Shakespearean Sonnets.docx,you should be able to distinguish between quatrains and couplets. I would like you to focus on these pieces of the poem as you work through your explication. Your discussion post could take the following format:

Quatrain 1 – give a brief explanation of what the poet is talking about – using quotes when necessary

Quatrain 2 – a brief explanation w/quotes as necessary

Quatrain 3 – a brief explanation w/ quotes as necessary

The Couplet – how does the poet turn the poem into something more? What is his conclusion about the beauty of his subject? Do you think the poet’s conclusion is a valid one? Why or why not?

I would like you to think about the structure of the poem and explain how the poet uses it to build to his conclusion.

would like you to show me what the poet discusses in each quatrain. What does he discuss in quatrain one? Two? Three? Use examples from the poem (Short quotes).

Is this a typical love poem where the speaker describes his lover in a most idealized way?

What is he saying about the qualities of the person he loves?

Ultimately, does he love this person any less because of his observations?How do you know?

Compose a response in which you describe each of the three quatrains and the couplet. Then answer the above questions to the best of your ability.
