For this assignment, I was assigned to look up how the Grand Canyon University journal articles resource page and how they will support my capstone project. From what I can see, I am able to reduce the number of articles by dates, peer reviewed and what type of source I want to look at. Unfortunately, when I use the keys words “CAUTI” and “HOUDINI” there were not many articles available after 2019. Although it may seem like a con to my research, the GCU library helps me limit my research to what is peer-reviewed instead of giving articles based on opinions and unsupported by scientific research. For example, one article described in detail how data was collected over one month on patients including reason for admission, if they met the HOUDINI criteria and catheter infections (Shammout et al., 2020). When I removed the term “HOUDINI” from the search and combined “CAUTI prevention” and “catheter” I was able to find more journal articles relating to my subject that followed the HOUDINI checklist without using that terminology. For example, Hernandez et al. (2019) published an article discussing using a checklist to make sure a patient met the qualifications of needing a urinary catheter to help reduce the CAUTI rates.
