SUBJECT OBJECTIVE(S) (NASPE/TEKS) (Include process, product, and managerial measures) Class: Physical Education Grade: Fifth Grade Enrollment: 10 Students Time: 8:00 a.m. Date: August 21, 2018 Equipment: 1. Text-To-Speech 2. Visual Display 3. Assistive Listening Systems (Microphone, speakers, etc.) 4. Basketball Court STUDENT ACTIVITY (WHAT ) Children with intellectual disabilities find it hard to sit in one place and do an activity for a long time. Students must have short activity times, and must alternate between physical and sitting down activities. In basketball, students will be able to learn locomotor skills such as running and incorporate hand-eye coordination while attempting to dribble a basketball. The student will be taught in the least restrictive environment. The activity will be broken down in two to three steps. Activity will include: 1. Isolated Tasks 2. Visual Prompt Tasks 3. Hand-Eye Coordination Tasks. 4. Group Activities 5. 5 minute interval activities that emphasize the same learning objective. 6. 3-Step Instruction Method Activities: -Concrete Instruction. -Semi-concrete Instruction. -Abstract Instruction. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding on the skills necessary to dribble and shoot a basketball through means of dribbling drills and shooting drills. Shooting and dribbling skills will be isolated to ensure skill competency. Class setting will be kept under supervision through means of group activities and five-minute interval changes for frequent student interaction and participation. TEKS: 116.7.(b)(K)(L) 116.7.(2)(A)(B) 116.7.(5)(A) SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Medicines must be kept out of reach. Make sure none of the children can lock themselves up in any room. Small objects or other toy parts that the children could put in their mouth must be kept away if a child has a tendency to do so. If a child has seizures, you must consider padding the corners of any hard objects such as bleachers to avoid injury. NATIONAL STANDARDS: 1, 3 ORGANIZATION EQUIPMENT (WHERE) TEACHER ACTIVITY TEACHING POINTS(Teaching Methods & Skill Analysis) (HOW) 1. Teach one concept or activity component at a time. 2. Teach one step at a time to help support memorization and sequencing. 3. Teach students in small groups, or one-on-one, if possible. 4.Always provide multiple opportunities to practice skills in a number of different settings. 5. Use physical and verbal prompting to guide correct responses, and provide specific and immediate verbal praise to reinforce these responses. 6. Use visual schedules with pictures/icons to demonstrate the step being taught. 7. Ask frequently if clarification and more explanation is needed. 8.Use short and simple sentences to ensure understanding. 9. Repeat instructions or directions frequently (at least three times). 10. Keep distractions and transitions to a minimum. 11. Do not assume that the student will perform the same way today as they did yesterday. 12. Maintain high yet realistic expectations to encourage social and educational potential. 13. Consider alternate activities that would be less difficult for the student, while maintaining the same or similar learning objectives. Skill Analysis: Assessments should be conducted every two weeks to allow frequent accommodations for the student. The assessment should include ratings on the students ability of: 1. Hand-Eye Coordination 2. Skill Competency 3. Self-Directed Learning Skills 4.
