Overview
Do you have a story to tell? Maybe it hasn’t yet occurred to you that the stories of everyday life have some sort of conflict. Most of the stories we watch, whether on screen or stage have characters in opposition of their wants and needs. Our ancient stories often were based in mythology, and characters familiar to us – many plays are indeed about family. Oedipus and Hamlet are certainly no exception.
You will have the opportunity to put yourself in the playwright’s shoes, acting the role of “storyteller” with this assignment. Don’t worry, I’m here to guide you with some basic ideas on how to craft a play. We will do it on a small scale: the one-page play.

Prompt
Create a 1 page play with a minimum of two characters in conflict that has a beginning, middle, and end;
The two characters share action and/or dialogue;
Stage language (or directions) are placed when necessary action or non-verbal communication is needed.
Be sure to review all of the tabs to help guide you and give examples of characters, conflict, stage directions, and format.

Submission
To submit your assignment, click on “Submit Assignment” on the top right corner of the page and provide your response. You will type your response in a word document first, save as a PDF document.
