Article Writing Question

1. Building on the international business development of Temu and Shein as reported in a CNN article on 24 April 2023 (a pdf version can be found in Moodle), critically examine how institutional distance may play a role in promoting and/or impeding the companies’ further expansion. Evaluate the strategies used to leverage the institutional distance in their international business development.  *Further research beyond the CNN article, and application of relevant theoretical concepts are expected.  Students may also make reference to similar experiences of other firms to support their arguments. 

2. Pick two social enterprises of your choice from emerging markets and analyse their social mission based on Zahra et al., (2005) typology. Discuss some of the underlying assumptions discussed in the typology and apply it to your chosen examples. 

3. Critically examine the role of accelerators in the entrepreneurial ecosystem for emerging markets. Which pillar do they typically fall under? What is their role? Who should apply for an accelerator?
