- The prompt for each question asks you to write a one-to-two-page paper incorporating all of your sources that demonstrates graduate level writing at the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation levels according to Bloom’s Taxonomy. A number of papers included only a direct quote as their level of incorporating a source which does not reflect writing at the analysis, synthesis or evaluation level which are key writing skills of graduate-level course work. Source should be connected together by articulating how they relate to one another.

- Use of Sources
- Some assignments did not include any citations and only had references included at the end.
- The prompt instructed students to add all references to the existing reference list. Some chose to include them in other places.
- Some sources were either cited incorrectly or the reference was either incomplete or not formatter properly. You can find information on citations and references in the Writing Skills Handbook under the “Research” tab and then “APA Style”.
- Academic-Writing Tone
- Some assignments used pretty casual language that included incomplete sentences, excessive exclamation marks, or not included sources to support responses.
- When writing about a topic where you obtain or are otherwise basing your information on the work of others as in the case of DiSC, Situational Leadership II or Tuckman, there should be appropriate citations to the source.
- Level of Detail in Responses
- A number of responses, specifically with questions related to DiSC, Tuckman, and Situational Leadership II lacked some needed specificity.
- Part of the assignment prompt stated, “…exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course.” When describing your team according to Tuckman’s stages of group development or their development level according to Situational Leadership II, responses should not only identify the stage or development level, but they should also include a description of what those levels represent along with some specific examples from your team that demonstrate how they fit within the description you provided.
- Formal and Informal Roles; question 15
- Page 15 of Johnson and Johnson discusses the concept of roles, and specifically, formal roles. Informal roles are those things that are not assigned or part of one’s official role but things they take up on their own in an informal or unofficial manner. A number of responses did not reflect an understanding of formal and informal roles.
