The world is an ever-changing battleground of unique issues that have consequent impacts to tourism. For Paper 2, you have the liberty to discuss and articulate any existing case, potential problem, or a theoretical/paradigmatic (non-case-based) issue in a more local scale (within Canada) and how they disrupt tourism activity. How do these issues transform your tourism experience, either as a tourist or worker in the industry?
Your paper is a reflexive piece, which should place emphasis on several dimensions:
The critical paradigm
Meso- or micro-scale disruptors in Canada
Unique and complex cases, insights, and perspectives
The above effects and impacts on tourism destinations, stakeholders, tourists, and you
Activism within the scope of tourism
Remember that this is a reflexive paper, which requires you to examine your own positionality (the collection of your personal values, beliefs, identity, and experiences) and your relationship with the tourism industry.
Instructions:
Write a paper about any issue within Canada and how it affects tourism destinations, stakeholders, tourists, and you. It should deeply articulate the above five dimensions into a robust and novel piece.
To set the scope, Paper 2 focuses on national disruptors, which mean issues that cover Canadian culture, environment, economy, the political landscape, and other issues within the country or down to the community. You will be articulating how these national disruptors affect tourism and your relationship with the industry.
Because this is a reflexive paper, make sure you relate your positionality with the main issues that disrupt tourism. Please use first-person language.
