SAFETY IN FIELD

Determine in which stage or stages in the social worker developmental process you expect to be by Week 11.

The developmental process of a social worker involves “initiation, learning, mastery, and specialization”, with each stage contributing to “the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills” (Sweitzer & King, 2019). I expect to be able to accomplish all this entire process by Week 11

Identify two new behaviors or changes to behavior that you will incorporate to ensure you are putting safety first.

Two new behaviors that I will incorporate to ensure I am putting safety first is avoid stereotyping particular groups of people and environment safety assessment

Explain why you chose those as the most important changes to make.

Social workers should routinely practice universal safety precautions in their work. Violence can and does occur in “every economic, social, gender, and racial group” so I will try and avoid stereotyping groups of people (Sweitzer & King, 2019). To promote safety, I will try and practice “safety assessment and risk reduction” with all clients and in all settings (Sweitzer & King, 2019)..
