An elderly gentleman was on his way in to visit his wife when he slipped on the slush that had yet to be removed from the sidewalk. He fell and landed on his right side, cracking his right elbow on the cement. An employee, on his way into work, assisted the gentleman to the emergency department for an examination. A full examination was performed on the patient, and x-rays of his ribs and right elbow was not fractured. The ED physician gave the patient a mild pain reliever and encouraged deep breathing and limited movement. He was given instructions to return if breathing became difficult or pain intensified. After hearing about the accident, the head ED nurse immediately notified the rick manager, who called you.
