Self-management is managing your time, talents, and abilities while focusing on clear objectives. Self-management is a social and emotional skill that connects your academic world with other aspects of your life. This is a path forward to improved self-control. There are apparent layers to self-management that begin with self-development and migrate to effective time management, goal setting, and increased self-control. Your ability to self-manage is a necessary milestone for you to achieve long-term success. Since effective time management is a central component of self-management, you should understand the tools, techniques, and strategies that help you control your time.
