Purpose: The broad goal of the course is to familiarize you with philanthropy and the nonprofit sector.

The final reflective paper will be about 1000 words long and should focus on your volunteer activity.

Your essay will be written in the first person and self-reflective in tone. Here are some key points that you may include:

• What is the event? When?
• What do you learn from this event?
• What impressed you the most based on this experience?
• Do you see any Opportunities? Challenges? of this organization from a volunteer perspective (what if you are the CEO, donor, or manager)
• Check their website; how do you feel about their first impression? Do you see any opportunities there?
• How does this organization help/contribute to the community?
• Is this organization unique or not? Why? or why not?

You need to “apply” what you have learned to this organization/volunteer activity. (for example, how do they balance their financial requirements, social impacts, and environmental impacts; to your knowledge, what does their logic model look like? is this organization 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4)? if you have enough wealth, are you willing to contribute your efforts (time & money) to this organization? Why? Why not?)
