Determine what the tables on both pages are structured to show. Both sites use the same data set but organize the data to make a different point. You must include both points in your argument. 

Determine which competency you will enhance by taking a probability and statistics course. (Choosing well will result in a better evaluation.) Present the data so readers understand it without referencing the two web pages you used. Do not use any statistical data that is not relevant to your argument.

Include in-text citations where you use ideas of data from either of the web pages.

Pay attention to the consistency of your document uses of font, color, line spacing, indentation, and header and footers including page numbers (Taking a little time to learn to use the MS Word ‘Styles Pane’ tool will enable you to set up a consistent document format more easily.) First person is appropriate for this document, as your authority as a student further in the program is what makes the document valuable to first year students.

• A Document Title. Document titles must briefly and precisely indicate the topic of the document. Ideally, it is also something that will catch the readers’ attention. 

Introduction. The introductionLinks to an external site. must accomplish the following:

Maintain the structure provided in IDL 1 preliminary. Edit as needed assure that the ideas in the introduction flow smoothly. 

The Use of Statistics in [Your Field]. Using the information that you found in the preliminary phase of this assignment, develop this section.

This section will start with an introductory paragraph with a topic sentence that connects this section to the main idea of the document. It will also introduce what comes next as an example from many possible of the use of probability and statistics in your field.

define the use (with at least one citation)

describes which one(s) of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics and/or probability are needed and why to enable the use. This is a critical thinking exercise.

• Probability and Statistics Literacy will Enhance Your Employability. Develop a written argument using the data provided to indicate how proficiency in probability and statistics will help to develop competency/competencies employers find look for when hiring recent college graduates. Select only the competency that is most developed by the core learning outcome in this course, (you may not use all of the competencies the webpages identify). This section will have a minimum of two sources. Additionally you must incorporate numerical data from both web pages into the argument. This is a critical thinking exercise. 

Conclusion. The conclusion is a summary of your ENTIRE document.  Maintain the structure you were provided in IDL1 preliminary.

Citations are required any place in your document where you have used the ideas, data, or images of others. 

Element 4: Revising, Editing, and Proofreading: Professional documents must be readable, clear, well organized, and concise.  Therefore, editing your work is a necessary step for assuring you have a well written document free of errors.  Two approaches may help you with finding typos, grammar errors, and wording issues. First, read your work aloud (Links to an external site.) to yourself after having stepped away from it for a while (ideally, a day).  Doing this will help you catch wording errors or omissions and poorly constructed sentences.  Second, you should use advanced grammar-checking software to review for grammar, punctuation, or other writing errors.  Grammarly is one option; however, others are available as well. Element 5: Final Document File NameWhen you finish your document save it using the following file naming IDL1F [Your last name First initial] submit — IDL1F Smith P submit.
