For this essay, I want you to review the last two weeks’ worth of work, specifically – the appeals.  Although the other topics are very important in any adult’s life, I strongly feel that using the appeals, as Aristotle wanted us to so many years back, can be incredibly helpful to us not only in our jobs but in also our personal lives.

Prompt: For this essay, I want you to review the appeals and know how to identify them.  Please use President Bush’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People from 9/20/01 (available in the Week Five folder) as your base document.  Many of you may remember when that speech was made live (like me).  Despite how you may feel about the former President, I want you to dissect that speech and pick out how he uses the appeals – all of them – logos, pathos, ethos and, yes – Kairos!  Explain to me how effective or ineffective you feel the former president’s words were when it comes to convincing the American audience that war the right path.
