I am recommending salary increases for Captain Shameka Graddy and Code Compliance Officer John Rogers. My recommendation is based on their resolute and meritorious service to the residents of the Town. Captain Graddy has been employed with the Town for 14 years and has always put the residents’ needs first. She is the first in the department’s history to complete Northwestern School of Police, Staff and Command. She was able to accomplish this while also ensuring we had adequate staffing to patrol the town. During the year she worked at every community event and was personally responsible for recruiting and hiring our two new officers. She assisted with their background investigations and continues to serve as an active recruiter for the department. Captain Graddy has an associate degree in criminal justice and is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Captain Graddy arrives early and works late to make sure we have patrol coverage and Town Hall employees are secure. She was instrumental in the identification and arrest of the hit and run suspect from Adelphi Road and Van Buren St. Captain Graddy took the initiative to notify Axon of the provision in their contract that entitled the department to a free body worn camera upgrade. Captain Graddy current salary is $103,253.14 (14/10) and I recommend a salary increase to $117,756.86 (15/12). Code Compliance Officer John Rogers has been employed with the Town for 18 months and during this time his performance has resulted in a significant improvement of our code compliance program. His curbside inspections are thorough and informative and have resulted in timely corrections completed by the property owner. Although he is a part-time employee last year, he took 549 code compliance actions to include rental inspections, tall grass notices, and permit review and approvals. Mr. Rogers is a professional and highly sought after competent employee. His current salary is $35.02 per hour, and I recommend a salary increase to $45.00 per hour.
