Management Question
Part One: Continuing Case
Instructions: Read the Continuing Case on Carter Cleaning found on page 117 of your text and then answer the following questions. Be sure to reference the text.
1. What items should be included the store managers job description?
2. How should Jennifer go about collecting the information for standards and procedures, and job description?
Part Two: Write Job Descriptions
Using: http://www.onetonline.org/ you are to write three job descriptions for a business of your choice. You can pick the business and the job like a hotel, retail store, or anything of your choice that you can find info for using O-Net OnLine. Again, be sure you do three jobs with the business of your choice. When you get to O-Net simply type in a job title in the “Occupation Quick Search” box in the upper right corner.
For example, say you choose to use a hotel clerk, you would need full descriptions for the general manager, front desk clerk and one other job such as laundry. For each job you need to include the Job Summery, Tasks, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. On the last page is an example of these five components for a Hotel Front Desk Worker: (You will notice I have simply copied and pasted the info in from the web site and inserted the titles of each component in bold italics.) Remember, you need to do this for three different jobs within the business of your choice. Do not do anything hotel related as that was an example. The purpose of this activity is for you to get familiar with O-Net. If you were to do this for a real job you would use this site as a resource and then of course modify the information for the particular job at your place of business.
Place parts one and two in the same Word document for drop box submission.
