You are required to cite peer-reviewed sources which must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the discussion assignment criteria and nursing content. Students must provide at minimum three substantive posts: one (1) to the initial question or topic by Wednesday evening and a minimum of two (2) substantive responses to your student colleagues and/or professors by Sunday evening. In this discussion, you are asked to reflect on a potential practice problem for the EBP project you will complete in EBP I and EBP II. In the upcoming week, you will start generating topic ideas in preparation for your evidence-based practice project. Utilize the “Project Topics” and “PICOT Guidelines” documents in order to identify a practice problem to utilize for the evidence-based practice project. Evidence translation begins with the identification of a problem or concern. Reflect upon the eight national practice problems: obesity, diabetes, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), mental illness, cancer, addiction (alcohol or opioid), and patient safety (regarding falls, pressure ulcers, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and medication errors). Articulate the problem that you have identified and plan to use to develop your evidence-based practice problem to address the following: 1. Consider the global and national burden of disease. What is the incidence and prevalence of the selected practice problem? Provide substantial current data to support this problem identification. 2. Consider the local burden of disease. What is the incidence and prevalence of the selected practice problem? You can provide support for the problem at the local level from state data or from your current clinical site if data is available. 3. What are the financial implications for the problem? 4. Which governmental agencies, professional organizations, and private regulatory agencies can provide statistical data to support the problem? Engage in meaningful dialogue with substantive posts, as well as incorporate at least three (3) different scholarly sources each week – include an in-text citation for each source using APA 7th edition formatting. Review the Discussion Guidelines and Rubric document for more information.
