Which state has a stricter laws for people who are arrested and convicted of trafficking?  Explain your answer thoroughly by indicating what the laws are for each of the 2 states.  Include the possible punishments in each state.    

b.    Under the Situational Crime Prevention theory, would you expect the state that has a more severe punishment to have less incidents of Human Trafficking or more?  Why?

c.    With the states you researched, did the one with stricter laws have less incidents of Human Trafficking reported through the Human Trafficking Hotline than the one with laws that were not as strict?  Is the result what you expected?  If so, why?  If not, what might some of the reason(s) be for this result?

You read about the problems with researching and collecting accurate information on human trafficking.  Review some of the resources addressed in the chapters this week.  This will help you see exactly what is in these reports, and get used to navigating them as you will use some of them for your research project in the coming weeks.  Specifically, review the following resources posted in the Module 1 Resources folder under “Other Useful Resources for Research in this Area”: Trafficking in Persons Report, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes Database, and the Global Slavery Index website.  Out of these 3 important resources, which one(s) might be most helpful to you as you work on the Research Project for this course?  Why?
