PEER POST # 1
For this discusison I think that I would go with the first scenario and recommend that the business to use PaaS or a SaaS. Since I don’t know much more about the business other than they are not able to host their own on premise system, I can’t give a more information recommendation. If this law firm has thier own data base already, or the application already created and just have the issue of managing the data along with sharing thier documents to clients/partners then I would recommend a private cloud based PaaS service. This would be because the law firm, who we know does not have the ability to house on site, could control a data base of all needed information in a different server elsewhere, the information would be able to be accessed anywhere by anyone with the correct permissions through virtualizaiton, any they could also have security run by that 3rd party entity as well as an added bonus. If the law firm has nothing of its own to start with, then I would recommend SaaS so that way they could have essentially everything a business could need without having to store any of it on site, or spend the time creating/managing the system. This could potentially ease the burden by the one IT worker that the law firm has, but the issue we run into here is that the law firm may not have the capital in order to use this option.
PEER POST # 2
We would want to go from an on-premise to a cloud model in order to fulfill the demands of the business situation, but before we do so, there are a few factors we would like to take into consideration. For instance, we must plan how to migrate all of our workloads and apps to the cloud. Cloud sync, a function included in most cloud services, facilitates the transfer of data from on-premise data storage to the cloud.
IaaS is the ideal option since the team need complete control over every facet of the server. In comparison to other cloud services, it not only provides more control but also eliminates the need for physical server maintenance and offers greater flexibility based on business requirements. Additionally, firms may save a significant amount of money by using IaaS to only pay for what they utilize. IaaS is a particularly good alternative for a development team looking to move to a cloud system because of its scalability.
We would require relational databases and a two-tier cloud application, whether or not cloud sync is used, for the purpose of storing and testing migrated files prior to their transfer into the cloud production environment. Before moving to the cloud, it’s also important to think about how to backup your data and continue running your business while the migration is happening. In order to guarantee that our services and data are available whenever we or our clients need them, we will back up the data by uploading all of the databases to the cloud and making sure they are all relational. After that, we will install a working application that can scale for different times of day.
