MDC Excellence in Nursing Award Questions

As the recipient of last year’s Excellence In Nursing Award, you have been asked to write a brief paragraph for a journal article about this year’s recipient, who also happens to be one of your closest Nursing colleagues. Write a brief paragraph of at least 100 words, using in-text citations (Last Name, Year), discussing your colleague’s contributions to the field of Nursing and why they are deserving of this award. Ensure that you use in-text citations and be sure to create your reference list.

For as long as she can remember, Gwendolyn Lopez has dreamed of becoming an Oncology Nurse. She has made a difference in the lives of all the of the patients who she has encountered. It is essential for Nurses to be caring, compassionate, and competent (Smith, 2025). Nurse Lopez has demonstrated the highest levels of integrity and character while always ensuring that the best interest of the patient was at the center of every action that she took. Everything that Nurse Lopez has done has been in the spirit of excellence. There is no one more deserving of this award. She has changed lives one patient at a time.
