For those who were unable to watch the film in the classroom-
We have been thinking about the art of adaptation all term, and for this assignment, we would like you to be particularly attentive to this film as a loose and complex adaptation of Hamlet.  We will not be asking for a traditional write-up of these reflections.  Instead, we want you to sketch an argument in your mind (or on paper or some screen) about Haider as an adaptation of Shakespeare.  For an argument, you need evidence to make the case.  Find at least five moments in the film that provide the best evidence for this argument.  Identify these moments (e.g. “Haider shaves his head”) and provide time signatures for each of them (1:42 = the one hour and forty-two minute mark of the movie).  In a sentence or two, indicate how each of these moments relate to your larger argument.  In other words, you will be providing us with a list of moments, time signatures, and brief explanations.  Then write a description of your argument.  If you want to provide this in a traditional “thesis statement” form, you may; but you need not do so.  Also, give your imagined argument a snappy title.
