• am pursuing a Bachelors in Business and Administration and after reviewing the “Business Research and Strategy Guide”, I can say that I learned a lot about how the library is set up and saw an incredible amount of resources I was previously unaware of.
  I perused through some of them and have come to the conclusion that I want to focus on leadership and the impact of middle management and selective hiring in the effectiveness of organizations. This seems like kind of a difficult topic to tackle and will require a good bit of research and data analysis to come with. However, I am excited about it as a topic as my dream job on the outside is leadership consultation.
  I have been in the military for over 15 years and have seen units struggle or thrive based on the unit’s leadership and their decisions. This topic is very close to me and I already find myself going out of my way to mentor young leaders (and senior leaders on occasion) on the lessons that I have learned in the hopes of molding my career field into a much healthier and effective one that mentors it’s young and emboldens it’s management to solve problems creatively.
  In order to tackle this problem, I plan on researching articles and papers that cover effective leadership through creative freedom. I also will need to research different company’s techniques for selective hiring and compile data to support my thesis idea that a combination of selective hiring and an autonomous middle/lower management corps leads to a notable increase in an organizations effectiveness and morale.
  I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Like the assignment said, I am trying to figure out what I want to do exactly but I feel like this would be a fun and enjoyable topic to tackle. I am open to feedback and recomendations.

the major I am pursuing is in Business and Administration. After viewing the “Business research and Strategy Guide”, I chose to address the Topic of Ethics in business. Anyone and everyone can experience or observe the affects of immoral business practice. Pharmaceutical companies over charging for medication, to ensure great profit margins, making vital medication unobtainable to those in need. Or misleading advertisements for shoes implying a boost in performance yet they give none at all. Companies follow specific laws, preventing being held accountable for these examples.  ‘ …business ethics can be said to begin where the law ends,…’ (Crane & Matten, 2010) 

After reading  I’ve came to the resolution that I must learn the true extent and meaning of C.S.R. Corporate social responsibility. What are positive instances of normative business ethics? Along with answering the question of what are some real life examples of descriptive business ethics?

How do we take on the problem or immoral ethics? Should we expose companies for their misleading data? Should we boycott companies using , what would be considered, slave labor? Or should we look to government regulation entities such as the FDA or EPA to protect us? First, I look forward to learning the philosophical side of ethics, along with researching how ethical decision are made and the factors that affect the outcome of said decisions. 

There are many ways to educate others on the problem through informative essay, video presentation or statistics visuals. The method of presenting data may be situationally dependent but I look forward to combining them as effectively as possible.
