Evaluate the clinical setting in which you are completing 50 direct patient care hours. Utilizing the ELEOT resources provided in the Topic 5 Resources, complete an evaluation on your current clinical setting. Based on your findings, write a summary of your evaluation and describe the process you will use to implement patient education. Include the following:

1. Describe a topic requiring a patient education intervention and the importance of educating patients on this topic. Newly diagnosed diabetic patients
2. Describe the physical setting in which the education will take place. Patient’s room and/or Education Simulation Center
3. Explain how you will maintain patient confidentiality during the education session. Patient to be seen and educated in a private hospital room or clinic. Ask for consent if they are not alone.
4. Identify the considerations you will need to address in your diverse learning environment. Privacy, Proper equipment such as medication and trainer auto inject pens, charts, written material information in the patient’s language.
5. Discuss the strategies you will implement to manage the learning environment. Will Use the teach back method to evaluate knowledge and understanding education.
6. Describe a technology that will be utilized to facilitate patient education for the chosen topic. Up to date information provided by diabetic sponsors, education will be based on type of medication administration issued for patient such as traditional vial and syringe or auto injector. 7. Develop a plan for the timing of these meetings (for example, meet with a patient in a specific setting three times, for 30 minutes, at a scheduled time). Initial meeting with patient will be 45 mis, patient’s hospital room. Meet 30 mins twice a week for two weeks. in simulation office.
