GSU K2 Historical and Financial Activities

Design 2 social studies activities for small group experiences in social science, aligning the plans with Illinois Social Science Standards for K-2:

• • Activity 1: Include an experience in which the children interview a historical figure or dress as a historical figure.
  • Activity 2: Include an experience in which the children explore a public issue related to financial literacy or write a class book about the community.

Rubric

Each activity must involve at least one social science standard.

Both must plan for children to work in small groups.

Both activities require children to use text to resource (websites, biographies, non-fiction)

Activity asks children to develop appropriate questions for interview or plan appropriate character costume.

Activity asks children to explore a current financial literacy issue using a resource or explore their local community using a resource.

Both activities asks children to create a product.
