Describe a task group that you could help develop in your community.
A task group that I could assist in developing in my community is one for parents/guardians and loved ones of the addicted population. Task groups are often “charged” with a specific purpose either by an administrator or as a result of the bylaws governing the organization (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). This task group would be similar to Al-Anon regarding its purpose of providing education, support, and resources to the affected individuals. The community, as many others across the United States, has been plagued with individuals suffering from substance abuse and has affected the community with crime, overdoses, and homelessness.
Describe the problem and the anticipated outcome of the group.
Having a clearly defined and mutually understood problem is essential if members are to work effectively together (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). The problem that would be focused on amongst this group would be the lack of education on the disease of addiction, lack of support for loved ones, and lack of resources to assist with when dealing with an individual with a SUD.
Explain how the task group would help the group members plan for effective change.
This task group will help group members plan for effective change by providing, in one spot, education, support, and resources. This task group could contact the local ADAMH board to receive free literature, phone numbers for additional support hotlines, and information on treatment facilities. This, in itself, would be a great start to addressing two of the three problem areas identified above. As the group meets regularly the members can share their stories to offer assistance and hope to other members. This will address the third problem area. Another great resource, found online, to assist with help for effective change is the county and surrounding counties community resource guides. These offer information on food pantries, homeless shelters, clothing donations, utility and rent assistance, daycare, medical needs, and many other resources to address common barriers with the addicted population. With gaining access to the resources offered by the ADAMH board and exploring the community resource guides, a plethora of information and resources would be available to help loved ones of the addicted population. These loved ones can learn about the disease concept of addiction, enabling an addict, and obtaining treatment for the addicted individual, all while being in the company of fellow community members experiencing similar experiences. Describe a task group that you could help develop in your community.
A task group that Casper could benefit from would be the Nominal Group Technique. The group should have six to nine members; if it is over the group would need to be split, so it is a small group. Having this group in Casper more problems could get resolved instead of having more people in a group and not everyone agreeing on something. Writing down the five problems of being silent and categorizing the problems from 5 being the highest priority to 1 being the least priority (Toseland & Riva, 2017). That gives the group a chance to see what problem needs to be worked on first and go down the list.
Describe the problem and the anticipated outcome of the group.
The problem I would present is homelessness in Casper, as it has gotten worse in the past couple of years. Having the Nominal Group Technique, the members can work together and come up with a plan on how homelessness can go down. Everyone can present their ideas and thoughts on that subject.
Explain how the task group would help the group members plan for effective change.
I do know this group is for healthcare facilities, but it could work for the community. This will teach everyone to work together; everyone has a say and can help make a difference in their community. Brainstorming ideas and everyone coming up with one conclusion.

Explain how the repeated stress described in the video affects how you view policies related to one of the following social services:Financial services, Hunger services, or Employment services
The repeated stress described in the video can have a significant impact on how we view policies related to social services, particularly in areas such as financial services, hunger services, and employment services. This chronic stress can exacerbate existing inequalities and create barriers for individuals in accessing these essential services.Let’s focus on hunger services as an example. Repeated stress, especially when it pertains to economic instability or food insecurity, can significantly affect a person’s ability to access nutritious meals consistently. The constant worry about having enough food or not knowing where the next meal will come from leads to heightened anxiety and negatively impacts physical and mental health.
Describe one social service that might improve early intervention to counter or mitigate repeated stress at an early age.
One social service that might improve early intervention is the implementation of comprehensive school lunch programs. These programs go beyond simply providing free or reduced-priced meals to students who qualify based on income levels. They should include initiatives such as universal free breakfast and lunch, nutrition education, and support for families facing food insecurity.
Explain why the social service you recommend might make a difference.
Implementing this program would make a difference because it ensures that every child has access to nutritious meals during their formative years without stigma or discrimination. By targeting schools as the primary intervention point, it overcomes potential barriers related to transportation or awareness of available resources. It also helps normalize healthy eating habits by providing consistent access to balanced meals within a supportive environment.
