Step 1: Explore

Find an example web article that you like and provide a link.  Remember, a web article is an article that is hosted on the web (Internet) and uses digital elements like hyperlinks, videos and images. After you find a web article, you will conduct an analysis of the article and briefly discuss which parts/elements you like about the web article and how it informs your decisions when designing your own web article. 

You may read/skim through Ch. 36: Designing What You Write.

Step 2: Explain 

Discuss your purpose and audience: What do you hope to accomplish with your web article? Are you trying to persuade your audience to change their behavior? Take action? Argue in favor of a particular solution? And who is this argument is directed to? Be as specific as you’re able to with your audience — since you’re writing persuasively you should think about who you’re hoping to persuade, to take action based on your argument. Take some time to explain why you have decided on this purpose and what you really want to say.

Discuss your thesis: State the working thesis that you will assert in your web article, and explain why this will be the stance you’ve decided to take. Here, it is a good idea to also reference some of the research you’ve done, showing how you plan on incorporating different sources in support of this stance.
