Read this introduction to the Book Confessions of an EcoSinner tracking down the sourses of my stuff
In Confessions of an Eco-Sinner, Fred Pearce surveys his home and then sets out to track down the people behind the production and distribution of everything in his daily life, from his socks to his computer to the food in his fridge.
Select one thing in your home and briefly do the same (anything: food, an article of clothing, furniture, anything. Your assignment is to track it down and tell me about it. Track down the source of _________. Tell me about what you discovered, where did it come from and what sort of impact getting that item to you had on the natural resources of the planet. Think of shipping, packaging, air freight, water use, people/labor, land, energy, trucking… think it through do just a bit of research ( one could easily spend a lifetime on it or write a book as the author did — but let’s just take a quick look. Tell me in words, write a poem, draw a diagram, make a photo essay, whatever you wish.

It’s all around us, despite its adverse effects on the planet. In a 24-hour experiment, one journalist tried to go plastic free.
