Introduction
We all want to be happy, but it’s not always easy to find. So what constitutes “good mental health” or “a good life”? I’ve been thinking about this recently and am sharing my list of things that help me feel like I’m living a meaningful and satisfying life.
Feeling ambitious.
Feeling ambitious is important for your self-esteem. It can help you achieve your goals and make a difference in the world.
Being ambitious isn’t the same as being competitive, but some people think it’s just as bad! Being competitive means that you’re always trying to win at something, even if it means hurting others or yourself. If someone else gets a better grade than you, they won’t be happy about losing out on their opportunity; instead of making them feel good about themselves (and taking pride in their accomplishment) they’ll feel ashamed because they didn’t do better than someone else did.”
Feeling like you belong to a community.

Knowing that there are people out there who will support your decisions and give advice when needed.
Feeling connected to friends and family.
We all know that having friends and family is a big part of life. It’s important to have people you can rely on, who are there for you through the good times as well as the bad. And when you need support from others, it helps to have a network of people who are in touch with your feelings and ready to listen when things get tough.
In fact, research shows that being able to talk about your problems with friends will help reduce depression symptoms by up to 30%. This might sound strange at first; after all, how can talking about problems actually make someone feel better? But researchers have found that talking through our problems helps us understand what’s going on inside ourselves better—and this understanding leads us down the path toward feeling better overall!
Having a sense of purpose.
Having a sense of purpose is important. It’s not the same as having a job, but you can have both. A sense of purpose is different from having a job in that it’s more about what you’re doing and how you feel about it than anything else. The best way to describe it is:

Being able to look back on your life and say “I did this because I had this goal.”

Having an internal drive that pushes you forward without necessarily needing external motivation (e.g., money).
Having a sense of humor.
A sense of humor is a good indicator of mental health. As someone who has suffered from depression, I can tell you that having a sense of humor is one of the most important things you can do in order to maintain your mental health and well-being.
Humor helps us cope with stress and anxiety by providing an outlet for our emotions and making us feel better about ourselves, our lives and relationships. It allows us to laugh at ourselves when we make mistakes or get frustrated with others around us—and this can help keep us sane!
Having a sense of hope.

Having a positive outlook on life. A sense of hope is essential for mental health, both in terms of your own wellbeing and the lives of others. It’s important to be able to see the good in things, even when they’re not going according to plan or don’t seem fair.

Being able to trust yourself and others. The best way that we can help ourselves stay healthy is by trusting our instincts—and other people! If you’re feeling like something isn’t right with someone else (or yourself), it may be time for a chat about what’s been happening lately so that everything feels normal again as soon as possible.
Being able to be yourself.
Being able to be yourself is the most important thing. If you don’t feel comfortable expressing your feelings and emotions, it’s very hard for others to know how you’re feeling.
Being able to express your opinions is also important because it can help people understand each other better. And if people understand each other better, they can work together more effectively in solving problems or making decisions that affect them all.
Being able to be creative means that if there’s a problem with the way things are being done or done badly, instead of complaining about it—you do something about it! For example: You come up with an idea; then someone else does something creative (like building something new) based on what YOU’ve come up with; then both sides get together so everyone knows where everyone stands before making any final decisions about how things should go forward from here on out.”
Being able to get through the tough stuff in life.
Being able to get through the tough stuff in life is a sign of mental health. It’s OK to feel bad sometimes—it’s important to be able to cope with difficult situations and emotions, even if you don’t want them in your life. Not being overwhelmed by anxiety or fear.
You might think of anxiety as a short-term feeling, but it can be a long-term thing. Anxiety has been called the “opposite” of happiness—the kind of emotion we feel when we’re afraid or worried about something in our lives. In fact, many people experience both positive and negative feelings when experiencing anxiety—so how do you know which one is right for you?
Anxiety isn’t always bad; sometimes it actually helps us prepare for life’s inevitable challenges by helping us focus on what matters most (like protecting ourselves from harm). However, if an excessive amount of anxiety becomes too much for your well-being then seek help from a therapist or psychiatrist who specializes in this area so they can help manage the symptoms and live comfortably!

You might be thinking, “Yeah yeah, but how do I know if I’m feeling too sad or low?” Well, it’s simple: if you feel like this every day, then it’s probably not healthy. If your moods swing wildly between highs and lows (and more importantly: when will they do so), then this could also be an indication that something is wrong with your mental health. You can talk to your doctor about what options are available if this sounds like a problem for you—or even simply ask around at work!
Conclusion
The bottom line is that you should feel good about yourself and your life. If you’re feeling down or depressed, remember that there are plenty of people out there who care about you and want to help. They might not be able to do much right now but at least they’re trying!
