Most people think of mentors as teachers and leaders, but there’s a third role that’s equally important: the mentor who helps others grow. When you’re listening, you are engaging with the person on a deep level. You understand what they are saying and respond with empathy, respect and trust. The more deeply you listen to someone, the more likely it is that you will be able to connect with them on a personal level.
Understanding
Understanding means being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes so that what they say makes sense for both of your situations. When we understand why someone does something or reacts in certain ways, we feel less threatened by their behavior and can work together more effectively together as leaders because there isn’t any misunderstandings between us personally anymore!
Challenges people to grow and develop in ways they hadn’t previously imagined.
