Language Acquisition Resource Discussion
Many resources are available to help us continue to develop our knowledge of language acquisition. As professionals, you will need to identify and evaluate the resources available to you. Please spend some time evaluating professional resources linked to language acquisition.
For this discussion, choose a specific language acquisition topic to explore further. Several examples include our previous topics of bilingualism, communication disorders, language developmental stages, brain research, supportive language acquisition practices, family support of language acquisition, etc. Write the topic you explored in the subject line of your discussion post. Then, provide three sources that can be used to learn more about this topic. Your sources may include a journal article, webpage, video, research, podcast, etc. Include links where appropriate, and be sure to cite all sources in APA format.
Your 300-350 word post should include the following for each selected source:
- Summary of the resource
- How it supports language acquisition in children
- How you will use it specifically for your future professional role
- An APA-formatted reference of the source so your peers can access and review it
When you submit your assignments each week, they will be returned to you with specific feedback. This feedback should be used to revise the assignment for the Final Project. Please make the necessary corrections and apply them to your Final Project, which is due in Week Five.
Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers’ posts. Select posts that provide sources you can connect with and may be able to use in your future professional role. Your responses should be a minimum of 100 words and include how the source will specifically benefit you in your future professional role. Language Acquisition Resource Discussion

Language Acquisition Resource Resources
Introduction
Thanks to the internet, we have access to countless resources for learning languages. These resources can be used by anyone with no prior knowledge of the language in question. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how you can use these resources to learn a new language.
Duolingo
Duolingo is a free language-learning platform that provides you with interactive lessons and exercises to help you learn Spanish, French, English and many other languages.
Duolingo has been described as “a fun way to learn languages” by The Washington Post. It can be used on your phone or computer and works best when paired with an internet connection so that users can access the lessons from anywhere in the world. This makes it ideal for people who have busy schedules or don’t have time every day to sit down at home learning new words!
Rosetta Stone
-
Rosetta Stone is a language-learning software company, founded in 1992 and based in San Francisco.
-
The program has been used by over 1 million people all over the world.
-
It’s used by 150 countries and 33 languages (including Arabic, Chinese, French & German).
Babbel
If you’re looking for a language learning app that has a wide array of courses and has been around for a long time, then Babbel is an ideal choice. The app offers over 1 million lessons in over 150 languages, making it one of the largest language learning platforms available online today.
It’s also worth noting that Babbel was founded by two German brothers who wanted to create an easy way for people around the world access top quality educational content at their fingertips. Their goal was simple: make learning fun!
Mondly
Mondly is a free app for language learning. It’s available on both iOS and Android devices, so you can use it on your phone, tablet or computer. You can also download it directly from the website if you prefer to read texts in another format than PDFs.
Mondly offers a wide range of courses with different objectives: beginner level, intermediate level or advanced level (see below). You can choose between general courses or specific topics like grammar, vocabulary acquisition or pronunciation training. Every course has its own description page where you’ll find all information about what’s included in each lesson (duration of lessons etc.) as well as some recommendations based on user feedbacks from previous users who tried out their courses before purchasing them!
Memrise
Memrise is a free online language learning platform that allows users to create and share their own personalized learning experiences. It’s also a digital flashcard app, with over 200 million registered users around the world who use it to help them learn new languages or improve on their existing skills.
Memrise has been around since 2009, but it didn’t become popular until 2012 when they launched their community feature as well as an app store where people could download Fluent Forever (the main program) or other popular programs like Anki or Duolingo. Since then, they’ve continued expanding in size while maintaining quality standards at all times: you can be sure that if something isn’t working properly on your phone or computer right now (like videos not playing), then someone else will have reported it before you even knew what was going wrong!
HelloTalk
HelloTalk is a language learning app that has over 1 billion users. HelloTalk has over 10 million active users, and 100,000 lessons in its library.
Conclusion
BSIP:
The bsip package provides a backend for bsipspell and bsintable, a language server that assists in the parsing of BSD syntax. The package contains all the standard BSD parsers (bsd-parser, bsd-class, and bsd-type) as well as a new parser designed to be more concise while still retaining most of the functionality of other languages. It also imports some useful modules from the Language Server Protocol SPI (https://www.ietf.org/html/lsp).
BSIP uses lua for scripting and includes a custom lua named “bsh” which is useful for setting options on BSPLint. If you would rather use Python or Ruby with BSPLint you can use custom Scripting Backends such as bsh2_sh or rb_sh instead of using BSIP’s own egg_script. This can be done by adding “–script=bsh2_sh –script=rb_sh” to your command line when invoking BSPLint’s script tool.
If you only need to make a few small changes to your codebase then BSIP might not be worth it; however if you want an out of the box experience with many editing features and good error messages then BSIP may be what you are looking for!
BSIP is mostly Python based so if this throws up any issues then please don’t hesitate to create an issue on GitHub !
