How healthy is your workplace?
You may think your current organization operates seamlessly, or you may feel it has many issues. You may experience or even observe things that give you pause. Yet, much as you wouldn’t try to determine the health of a patient through mere observation, you should not attempt to gauge the health of your work environment based on observation and opinion. Often, there are issues you perceive as problems that others do not; similarly, issues may run much deeper than leadership recognizes.
There are many factors and measures that may impact organizational health. Among these is civility. While an organization can institute policies designed to promote such things as civility, how can it be sure these are managed effectively? In this Discussion, you will examine the use of tools in measuring workplace civility.
To Prepare:
- Review the Resources and examine the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, found on page 20 of Clark (2015).
- Review and complete the Work Environment Assessment Template in the Resources.
By Day 3 of Week 7
Post a brief description of the results of your Work Environment Assessment. Based on the results, how civil is your workplace? Explain why your workplace is or is not civil. Then, describe a situation where you have experienced incivility in the workplace. How was this addressed? Be specific and provide examples.
By Day 6 of Week 7
Respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days by sharing ideas for how shortcomings discovered in their evaluations and/or their examples of incivility could have been managed more effectively. Communication and Relationship Building Assignment

Introduction
Communication is the heart of leadership. Leaders who can’t communicate with their team and subordinates will eventually lose their influence and power. Communication is about teaching people how to interact with each other, which means you have to know how to listen well as well as speak clearly and confidently.

Leaders need to communicate well, not only with their own team and people in the same field, but also with those from different fields and education levels.

There are many ways to communicate, but you should make sure you’re communicating with the right people. For example, if you want to share your new product with customers who have already bought something from you in the past month, it’s better to send an email than a text message since texts take longer for users to read and respond. If someone has a question about service or feedback on their current experience with your business (e.g., “Can we get more ice cream?”), it’s best if that person can talk face-to-face with someone over the phone rather than sending an email via chatbot or social media platform like Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp because they will feel more comfortable talking directly into someone’s ear rather than typing onscreen chat messages into tiny text bubbles in which there may not be enough room for even one word!
Develop a respect for people of all backgrounds and education levels.
In order to build relationships in a community, you need to show respect for everyone. This means that you should not judge someone based on their background or education level. Instead of saying something like “You’re a university graduate?” or “I didn’t go to college,” say something like “That’s great!” or “I’m sure it was an interesting experience.”
This will help build trust and rapport between yourself and others at the event and make them feel more comfortable around you when they share their stories with each other later on during the night!
Never underestimate the impact of one-on-one conversations.
In today’s society, we’re all too busy to give our full attention to one person. We’re distracted by social media, TV shows and other things that pop up on our screens. But when you spend time with someone one-on-one, there’s no way they can be distracted or distracted you. You have to focus on them 100% of the time because they are your attention span for the day!
One-on-one conversations build trust and respect between people who know each other well enough to talk about important subjects like family or work issues without feeling awkward or afraid of judgment by others present in their presence (i.e., colleagues). It also builds relationships between individuals because it helps us understand each other better through sharing details about ourselves which makes us feel more connected instead of having a superficial relationship where we neither know nor care about each other outside those moments when we actually meet face-to-face instead
Don’t forget to communicate in writing too.
Communication is a two-way street. You can’t expect your friends or colleagues to know what you need if they don’t know how you feel, so make sure they understand what’s going on and why. If there’s something in particular that needs attention, it’s important that they understand why this is happening and what will happen next.
Don’t forget about writing! Writing emails, letters and blog posts are great ways of communicating with others; just make sure these are written as clearly as possible so that the recipient understands everything clearly without having any confusion about what was meant by either party involved at any given time during the exchange being discussed by either party involved in said exchange (and yes – even sometimes when no one talks).

Communication is the heart of leadership. You can’t effectively lead without communicating, and you can’t communicate effectively without respect for people of all backgrounds and education levels.
It’s easy to assume that everyone involved in a project or organization already knows what they’re doing and how they feel about it, but this isn’t always true. It takes a lot more than just talking with your team members to get their perspective on things—you need to listen carefully, observe behavior patterns in real time (like body language), ask questions based on what you see happening around you instead of just assuming things will go smoothly…and don’t forget about writing!
Conclusion
Communication is the heart of leadership, and so it is with every aspect of our lives. We can’t be silent and expect others to listen or do what we say. If we want people to understand what we’re saying then we must communicate by speaking clearly, using clear language, and keeping pace with changes in technology. By putting all these tips into practice you’ll find yourself becoming a more effective leader who has greater influence over other people’s lives!
