You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Introduction
We work to be civilly polite to other people, whether that’s our coworkers or customers. We may not always be able to do this in our professional lives, but when we can, it makes us feel better and more confident.
Civility is kindness in behavior or speech.
Civility is a virtue that goes beyond politeness. It’s not just about being nice, but about treating others with respect and consideration for their feelings, needs and desires. Civility helps you to treat others with dignity and respect because it shows you understand them as human beings rather than as objects for your own gain or pleasure.
Civility is often confused with politeness the difference between what we say and how we say it (or don’t say it). However, civility can also include things like kindness toward others: not just being nice but also taking care of people when they need help in difficult situations; being considerate of other people’s time by showing up on time; respecting the views of others even if they differ from yours on an issue; giving credit where credit is due when someone else deserves recognition for an accomplishment or service rendered during work hours.
Be respectful, not argumentative
Civility is a two-way street. You should not be argumentative with your fellow workers and you should respect their opinions, even when you disagree with them. It is also important that you do not call anyone names or use profanity in any form of conversation. This can be seen as disrespectful and could cause some people to feel uncomfortable at work, which could lead them to leave altogether!
You should also avoid being condescending towards others, especially when it comes to their job experience or qualifications; this could make it difficult for these employees if they have been hired specifically because of their skill sets (such as programmers). A good way around this issue would be simply asking questions instead of giving unsolicited advice this will allow everyone involved time enough needed so that everyone feels comfortable enough talking about whatever topic might come up during discussion sessions/conferences/meetings etcetera.”
Think before you speak
Before you say something, be sure to think about the impact it could have on your colleagues. For example, if you work in a high-pressure environment where people are under a lot of stress and pressure, don’t say anything that might make them feel bad. Being kind to others and yourself is a key part of being civil. Avoiding negativity will help you maintain your composure and make it easier for others to do the same.

Don’t be hard on yourself: When someone else makes a mistake or does something wrong, don’t berate them for it. You may feel like this is an appropriate response but it’s not fair to take it out on the other person in this way because they didn’t intend any harm by their actions; they are simply human beings just like everyone else! If something goes wrong at work then try not to blame yourself either – even if something bad happens during your shift (e-mail gets lost) there’s no need for self-flagellation as this might lead people around me think that I’m incompetent which could damage my career prospects in future years!
Take deep breaths
Deep breathing exercises can be a great way to relieve stress and focus on the present moment. When you’re stressed out, it’s hard to think clearly or make good decisions. Taking deep breaths helps you to get control over your thoughts and emotions so that you can make the best decisions for yourself and those around you.

Put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel if someone behaved like that to you? Would it make a difference if they were your boss or a coworker? If so, why not try to understand why they are behaving that way and consider that maybe there’s more going on than meets the eye.

Try not to take things personally. It’s easy for us as humans when we’re feeling good about ourselves and our own situations, but sometimes this can lead us down the wrong path—and even into trouble! Instead of trying too hard to fix what isn’t broken (which will only make things worse), try remembering that everyone has bad days from time-to-time; just remember never take out those frustrations on anyone else at work/home/social media etcetera…
Don’t be hard on yourself
If you’re hard on yourself, it’s likely that others will be too. Your colleagues will likely respond to your behavior by being more hard on themselves and that can make the situation worse for everyone.
To avoid this cycle of negativity, try not to be hard on yourself when things go wrong: if something goes wrong at work or home (or anywhere in between), think about what could have been done differently instead of beating yourself up over it. Be kinder and gentler with yourself; don’t take criticism personally! If someone criticizes your behavior or demeanor in a way that hurts your feelings, remember: they’re just trying to help not hurtfully criticize you so they can feel better about themselves themselves later on down the line when they reflect upon their own mistakes from yesterday’s episode of “The Office.”
Mind your manners!
Civility is kindness in behavior or speech. It can be a way of showing respect, including politeness, consideration and putting others’ needs before your own.
Be respectful, not argumentative. When you disagree with someone’s perspective, don’t get into an argument with them; instead try to understand where they’re coming from so that you can work together toward a solution that will benefit both of your teams (or departments).
Think before you speak. Before sharing any personal information related to your workplace experiences whether positive or negative think about how it might affect others at work if it were divulged publicly by mistake or intentionally shared by another coworker who was jealous of your successes!
